ALGAE BENEFITS FOR SKIN

We have just come across more scientific studies showing the benefits of algae for skin.  Algae, commonly referred to as “seaweed,” hydrates, softens and detoxifies the skin, while replenishing essential vitamins and minerals. Rich in antioxidants, algae also helps to protect skin against free radical damage and prevents the formation of an enzyme that causes the deprivation of collagen.
It is a rich source of natural polysaccharides with a proven ability to enhance skin’s barrier function, replenish the skin’s natural water reservoir, and increase its moisture-retention capability. Its rich compound alguronic acid has shown to increase cell regeneration.
As it is water-based by nature, blue-green algae provides moisturization and purifying hydration, helping to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Research has also found that blue-green algae has properties that make it great for sensitive skin. It is easily absorbed so the skin can make good use of it. The elastin synthesis in algae is a rich source for firmness and elasticity of the skin. Lack of elastin changes skin’s structure, leaving it weaker and susceptible to early formation of lines, expression marks and sagging.
Studies have shown that aging skin loses elastin at least one per cent every year which, combined with gravity and natural slackening of facial muscles, contributes to sagging and formation of wrinkles and lines.
Having found the amino acids and other nutrients like nucleic acids and chlorophyll in blue green algae, Herbally Radiant launched its popular formulation “Body Polish”. It contains aphanizomenon fros-aquae, the organic blue green algae, together with wonderful ingredients like sea salt, shea butter, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, avocado and apricot oil besides Vitamin E and Essential Oils. The combined effect is a wonderful product, all natural, organic and most skin friendly that creates a soft, supple and radiant skin.
