NEW STUDY SHOWS AVOCADO BENEFITS FOR SKIN AND HEALTH

Scientific evidence of immense benefits of avocado is now gathering momentum. The Cancer Research journal has just published a study by Paul Spagnuolo, prof at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, revealing that the  fat in avocado can fight acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a rare and deadly form of cancer, by targeting leukemia stem cells while leaving healthy cells unharmed.  The prognosis for AML patients is devastating because there are few treatment options. For 90 percent of those who are older than 65, the disease is fatal in five years. Spagnuolo hopes a new drug made from avocatin B -- the name of the lipid that has been shown to destroy leukemia stem cells -- may help increase their life expectancy or quality of life.
Avocado is a great source of monounsaturated oleic acid that reduces “bad” cholesterol while raising the “good” cholesterol. Avocados also contain a rich variety of heart nutrients including vitamin E for preventing cholesterol oxidation; folate for reducing dangerous homocysteine levels in the blood; potassium for regulating blood pressure; phytosterols for reducing cholesterol absorption; and dietary fibre to control blood sugar levels.

The monounsaturated fats in avocado also help improve skin tone. They are vital for maintaining good moisture levels in the epidermal layer of your skin, making it look and feel soft and healthy. Omega-9 fats can additionally help reduce skin redness and irritation and are involved in repairing damaged skin cells. Avocado also helps protect skin from wrinkles and other visible signs of aging with its antioxidant carotenoids, vitamin E which helps guard against photo-aging from sun exposure and vitamin C which is involved in the creation of elastin and collagen for maintaining your skin’s elasticity and firmness.

After testing its efficacy, Herbally Radiant launched a new Body Cream with avocado oil. Mixed with other essential oils: grapeseed, jojoba, cocos nucifera, vitamin E and other complementary natural ingredients, this Body Cream has proved to be an amazingly effective moisturizer for whole body that can, at the same time, reduce visible aging signs and protect skin from sun damage.

HERBALLY RADIANT WELCOMES BAN ON ANIMAL TESTING OF BEAUTY PRODUCTS

With the support of the Humane Society of US, a bipartisan bill has been introduced in the US Congress to finally ban the testing of cosmetics and personal care products on animals.  More than 30 countries, including Israel, have already such legislation in place.
It is a long pending demand from Humane Society and animal lover activists which will forbid animal testing in any laboratory for cosmetic ingredient or finished product.  It has been widely accepted that it makes poor scientific sense because these animal tests have never been proven reliable for human safety.
At Herbally Radiant, we have good expertise and experience of launching new beauty formulations without any ingredient which might be involved in animal testing. And all the natural products launched by Herbally Radiant over the last 5 years, without resorting to animal testing procedures, have been found absolutely safe, most skin-friendly and amazingly effective. These are now quite popular with our loyal customers who rate them very highly.

AVOCADO AND ALOE VERA VERY EFFECTIVE IN PROTECTING SKIN AGAINST SUN DAMAGE

A recent study by Dr. Prof. R. Kundu, Prof of Dermatology at Northwestern University, published in JAMA Dermatology has studied the effects of UV-A and UB-B rays, which during the summer season create adverse impact on skin. During the summer season, the sun’s radiation is the strongest. The UV radiation that sunlight produces can harm skin by causing sunburn and developing free radicals. Large amounts of UV exposure can also cause skin cancer and reduce the ability of skin to protect itself, leading to premature aging signs. Using right kind of skin cream or lotion is essential to protect skin from the deleterious effects of overexposure. Lotion or sun cream of at least SPF 15 should be used for adequate protection.
According to the study, it was a surprise that only 75% of consumers bought their sun cream just by reading the top line saying protection from sun damage. Only 25% took care of finding out the SPF level on their sun creams. And, far less percentage of consumers were aware of the natural organic skin-friendly creams and lotions which are equally effective in protecting skin from sun damage and external pollutants.
Herbally Radiant has launched two special formulations: (1) Glowing Silk Primer, and (2) Body Day Cream to take full care of skin during summer.  Both these are aloe based and contain several other organic ingredients to give more health benefits. The Body Day Cream has avocado and grapeseed oil for added protection from sun, while Silk Primer has organic aloe vera and other essential oils.
Avocado is one of the most nutrient ingredients for skin. Besides excellent protection from sun burn, it has many vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and healthy fats that help rehydrate the skin and aid the healing process along. The antioxidants in avocados help to get rid of toxins that promote premature aging and wrinkling of the skin. A lot of the toxins on facial skin are the residue of make-up or other cosmetics. Avocodo greatly helps remove these toxins.
Aloe vera is another major medicinal plant especially useful for protecting skin. Very effective in speeding the skin repair process in a variety of skin disorders like acne, psoriasis, eczema and pruritus. It is 99% water and 1% contains powerful synergy of 150 different elements, including vitamins.
Priced at$ 18.90 (Silk Primer for face), and $ 12.90 (Body Day Cream), these are great skin care formulations with natural healthy ingredients, especially during the summer season, and can be ordered on line, free-shipping (shop.herballyradiant.com).

WONDERFUL EFFECT OF ALGAE EXTRACT IN BEAUTY FORMULATIONS

Among the natural ingredients used by Herbally Radiant in its skin care products, algae (special kind of seaweed) is a unique component.  It delivers higher level of hydration with a silky but not greasy skin feel. It is a wonderful natural gradient from renewable sources and technologies inspired by nature, with low environmental impact while delivering high performance formulations.
Algae has been used in many beauty products.  Beauty and cosmetic ingredient firms are developing new materials from coastal plants, seaweeds, algae and sea minerals. There have been several studies that indicate many potential cosmetic benefits from it.  It can stabilize minerals that aid in skin moisturization. One study claims that algae has anti-acne properties without the irritation of over the counter drugs.  Many beauty products that contain algae claim that it may help with skin lightening. Sea algae, rich in vitamins and minerals, are becoming a common source of anti-aging actives. Dr. Marcene Alexiades-Armenakas, in a New York Times article, elaborates that marine creatures and organisms have spent millions of years on the sea surface and evolved mechanisms to protect their DNA from UV damage. These mechanisms work on human skin too. That is why blue algae extracts are used for DNA defense.
Greek company Apivita is using sea fennel in sun care products while Italian firm Lacote has comprehensive range of anti-cellulite products using Guam seaweed. Brazil’s Natura Cosmetics has recently decided to use microalgae oil to deliver higher level of hydration, a silky but not greasy skin feel, mildness on the skin, neutral color and odor.
With the use of algae extract in combination with organic ingredients, Herbally Range has launched amazingly effective new beauty products. By including blue green algae with almond oil and body butters Herbally Radiant has launched a new Body Polish to exfoliate and nourish skin.  It is also mixed with sea salt, vitamin E and avocado butter, Evening Primrose Oil all of these make it an outstanding formulation. This can be followed, to provide high value nutrients to the skin,  with Body Day Cream which is aloe based and is full of natural ingredients providing wonderful nutrients to skin. Priced at $ 7.90   and  $ 12.90,  these can be ordered on line with free-shipping.

GROWING PUBLIC DEMAND TO REMOVE CHEMICAL INGREDIENTS FROM BEAUTY FORMULATIONS

It is a welcome move that the hazards of chemical-based skin care products are getting more public concern. Apart from causing potential health risks, microplastics or petroleum bye-products used in personal care products over the years have been linked to the plastic pollution in the oceans and waterways. Microplastics have been used in place of natural ingredients in a large number of beauty formulations for many years.
Sensing the increasing public pressure for removing such harmful substances from the beauty care products, many brand companies are planning to phase out such ingredients.  A number of States in US (California, New York and Illinois) have already passed legislation banning use of microbeads from skin care products like shampoo, exfoliating scrubs, tooth paste.
The Canadian supermarket chain Loblaw has now announced that it will stop using Triclosan and Phthalates from its skincare products, after noting that some experts have linked Triclosan and Phthalates to human or environmental health concerns.  The company realizes the harm microbeads do to the environment when they spill out into the water system.  Earlier the Canadian Parliament had demanded that microbeads should be treated as toxic ingredient in the skin care products.
To give further boost to these measures, UN Environmental Protection agency has also warned against continued use of microplastics in beauty products, and has advised phasing them out and eventually banning their use in personal care products and cosmetics. In its annual report released on the eve of World Oceans’ Day, the UN agency blamed presence of microplastics in cosmetics for the increasing pollution of oceans and waterways. Most of these particles finally end up in the environment when discharged in wastewater.
Earlier, the European Commission also highlighted the growing dangers of marine microplastic pollution.
At Herbally Radiant we have been campaigning for use of natural skin care and beauty products. With the use of USDA certified organic ingredients, Herbally Radiant has been able to launch more than 76 natural beauty products so far; each of these products has received excellent customer reviews because of amazing skin-friendly efficacy. The use of natural products has great environmental sustainability and serves important health and social cause.
Herbally Radiant has pointed out earlier many grave skin disorders as a result of several potentially harmful pharma-based ingredients in cosmetics, many of which are not listed in the packaging or labels.
