BEING OUT OF SHAPE HARMFUL TO HEALTH, LONGEVITY AND OVERALL BEAUTY

The remarks of Gretchen Reynolds in his latest article in New York Times reminds us how being out of shape could be more harmful to health and longevity than most people expect, according to a new, long-term study of middle-aged men. The study finds that poor physical fitness may be second only to smoking as a risk factor for premature death.

The new study, which was published this week in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, where researchers examined long-term database of information about Swedish men, is relevant not only for health and longevity, but also for maintaining pleasant appearance and beautiful looks.

From the point of view of skin’s health, Herbally Radiant has always highlighted the vital need for regular physical work out, and for healthy nutritious food that has more fruits and vegetables and less of extra sugar.  Among negative factors, smoking creates serious impact on skin; it causes premature aging signs and lines on face, besides other skin disorders like spots and blemishes on face. Fitness exercises help increased blood circulation to all parts of body, thereby  strengthening  the immune system of body and skin. Increased blood circulation helps eliminate various toxins from the system that is clearly reflected in a bright healthy facial appearance. It also helps maintain elasticity of skin, thereby reducing formation of lines and wrinkles.

It will be useful here to refer to the findings of the researchers at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden of the surprising benefits of short, high-intensity interval exercises, and learn how antioxidants play important role in overall health. They found that high-intensive exercise breaks down calcium channels in the muscle cells, causing a lasting change in how the cells handle calcium, and is an excellent signal for adaption, such as the formation of new mitochondria. Mitochondria are like the cell’s power plants, and changes that stimulate the formation of new mitochondria increase cells’ endurance. From the point of skin care, we notice that the breakdown of calcium channels, that is triggered by the high-intensity exercise, is caused by increase in free radicals, which are very reactive and oxidize cellular proteins.

The R&D team at Herbally Radiant launched its herbal organic formulations with such ingredients that are rich in antioxidants. Most of its products, therefore, contain vitamins A, E and C. These rich nutrients reinvigorate the facial muscles and rejuvenate skin cells. The result is a revitalized, velvety skin that is well nourished and naturally beautiful.

MOST SKIN FRIENDLY NATURAL SUN PROTECTION CREAM

As the temperatures are soaring, it might be useful to remind Americans of the dangers of  skin cancer due to sun damage.
As New York Times columnist reports, this year alone, more than 76,000 people in the country are likely to develop melanoma, the deadliest form of disease, and about 10,000 might die from it.
Being in the business of manufacturing organic skin care products, and protecting skin health, we at Herbally Radiant went over the causes and remedial measures for the potentially deadly skin disorder.
There are three types: squamous cellcarcinoma, basal cell carcinoma and melanoma. Squamous and basal are grouped together into non-melanoma skin cancers, and are by far the most prevalent form of the disease, making up about 98 percent of cases. They are also rarely fatal, making up only about 0.1 percent of skin cancer deaths.
But melanoma poses a much bigger threat. In 2015, there were 73,870 diagnoses and 9,940 deaths in the United States.
In the risk categories are those who have had melanoma, or who have a family history of the disease, and people who have more than 100 moles on their bodies are most likely to develop the disease. White men 65 and older are at higher risk than the rest of the general population. People with light skin are also more prone to developing skin cancer than people of color, though they too can get melanoma.
In medical screening, doctors try to  identify potentially troublesome skin lesions: asymmetrical, when one half doesn’t match the other; borders of the lesion that look uneven or ragged; colors that differ from one another; diameter larger than 6 millimeters, about the size of a pencil eraser; evolving lesions over time.
While there is debate among medical fraternity in general about the annual check-up of skin, Dr. Abel Torres, President of the American Academy of Dermatology says that skin cancer screenings can save lives, and adds: “We know that screenings, which are noninvasive, quick and painless, are the best tool possible to detect skin cancer early when it is most treatable.”
Herbally Radiant would recommend precaution against sun damage by using good protective cream or lotion.  It has been marketing successfully an excellent natural formulation: Body Cream (81% organic).  Aloe based, and with key ingredients like Avocado Oil, Grapeseed Oil and Shea Butter, together with Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide (that make sun protection creams), this Body Cream offers sun protection while offering rich nutrients for healthy appearance of skin. Its Azadirachta indica Oil has amazing antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. (Priced at $ 12.90 for 4 oz jar, it can be ordered online: www.herballyradiant.com)

HERBALLY RADIANT WELCOMES WALMART MOVE TO REMOVE CHEMICALS FROM BEAUTY PRODUCTS

The pressure from consumers for safer skin care products has forced Walmart to remove formaldehyde, triclosan and six other substances from their products, part of an effort to eliminate controversial chemicals from household goods.
The chemicals on the list include “certain properties that can affect human health or the environment,” Wal-Mart said in a statement Wednesday. The world’s largest retailer created the list with help from the Environmental Defense Fund.
Naming the chemicals follows Wal-Mart’s announcement in 2013 that it would ask suppliers to reduce some substances in personal-care, cleaning and beauty products and promote alternatives. The program is an example of widening scrutiny by merchants, manufacturers and legislators into the effect of chemicals, as well as a nod to heightened consumer concerns. In June, for instance, President Barack Obama signed a bill that overhauls the nation’s laws governing chemicals.
Under the Wal-Mart policy, manufacturers must list the targeted ingredients on packaging by 2018 and work to find alternatives. The program affects about 90,000 items made by 700 manufacturers. Already, Wal-Mart’s suppliers have removed 95 percent of the chemicals on the list, by volume weight, from products sold in U.S. stores that are covered by the policy. Freeze declined to provide specific examples of how manufacturers replaced chemicals with greener alternatives.
Procter & Gamble Co., largest maker of consumer products,  already posts ingredient information online and has eliminated triclosan and diethyl phthalate from more than 99 percent of its products.
Formaldehyde is a carcinogen found in resins for wood products, building materials, paints and some consumer products like cosmetics. Triclosan, meanwhile, is a chemical used in antibacterial soaps, toothpaste and some cosmetics.
This is a welcome gesture by Walmart which should be followed by others. As we see, hundreds of cosmetic products are being marketed glamorously without naming the ingredients on the labels, that are potentially risk to skin health.
HerballyRadiant has been advising regularly that to ensure safety and reliability, all cosmetic products should display ingredients on labels to enable consumers to make informed choice. All Herbally Radiant products display the ingredients – herbs and Essential Oils – that go into making healthy and safe skin care formulations.

COUNTERFEIT DRUGS AND COSMETICS ON THE RISE THROUGH ONLINE SUPPLIERS

According to US DEA report, hundreds of thousands of counterfeit prescription pills laced with a deadly synthetic opioid have infiltrated the US drug market, with the problem expected to escalate.
The pills are pressed using pharmacy-grade machines to look like known prescription painkillers that an increasing number of Americans addicted to opiods buy illegally. They contain various amounts of fentanyl – a synthetic drug between 50 and 100 times more powerful than morphine; even a few extra grains of the drug can prove deadly. Potent, unregulated, and, to the untrained eye, indistinguishable from pharmacy grade medication, the counterfeit pills put people who use painkillers for non-medical purposes – 4.3 million in 2014, according to the last federal.
This time, the epidemic is being sourced by chemists in Chinese laboratories. The DEA report reveals that many of these laboratories also produce pharmaceuticals that are sold legally in the US.  The story is the same for cosmetic products - there are more online suppliers from China and Hong Kong that are marketing counterfeit branded cosmetic products.
Herbally Radiant has been cautioning customers to avoid online purchases for branded cosmetic items unless these are sold by parent company. Just like drugs, you can find everything on the Internet. All the popular brand-name drugs and cosmetic products are readily available online at discounted prices.
Similarly, large number of online suppliers are also selling Essential Oils cheaply, with no reliability of their purity. Often, these are found to be finely adulterated either with vegetable oils or other substances.
The World Health Organization estimates as many as 50% of illicit online pharmacies are selling counterfeit medications and, still higher percentage of counterfeit skin care products. After sampling more than 11,000 internet pharmacies, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy in the United States concluded that a staggering 96% of those pharmacies did not comply with NABP patient safety and pharmacy practice standards, or state and federal laws, and were deemed by the NABP as not recommended.
Consumers need to be cautious when they come across ‘too good to be true’, or ‘too cheap to be genuine’ cosmetic products, being offered on line with unverifiable claims.

HOW GAMBLING ADDICTION CAN IMPACT ON BEAUTY

We have been highlighting the need for keeping body and mind relaxed, and stress free in order to build up and maintain impressive appearance and beautiful looks.  It was interesting to see how Chris Baraniuk, the BBC columnist, has rightly linked the habit of gambling to a state of negative mental ‘high’. We all know that no one likes to lose – even pathological gamblers. And yet they keep on betting. People addicted to gambling frequently report that, despite losses stacking up, the buzz keeps bringing them back to the card table or slot machine.
While Chris examines the addiction of gambling as an avoidable crazy activity, we at Herbally Radiant would view this addiction as a deep rooted malaise that could flare up disturbing emotional outbursts, leading ultimately to a stressed-out mental and facial appearance.  This goes against the basic need to keep inner calm and present a self-confident beautiful persona.

During the gambling activity, our body produces adrenalin and endorphins;  and the brain scans of subject gamblers have shown increased activity in an area of brain associated with dopamine neurons.  Dopamine, a complex neurotransmitter, is linked to changes in our emotional state.

Gambling addiction that takes you to a state of stress or excitement, therefore, is not helpful if one is planning to present a cool and calming facial appearance. The beautifying products that one has access to would deal with such problem only superficially.  As specialist in natural organic skin care products, we advise our customers to avoid stressful situations because one’s mental make-up gets reflected on facial presentation.

In fact, we keep advising stress-control exercises like meditation and yoga. These practices can truly rejuvenate your skin, transforming all your cells and tissues. The effect of meditation, when practiced properly and consistently, is like an anti-aging pill that cleanses skin and rejuvenates your complexion.
Creating beautiful skin is both an internal and external affair, so you've got to learn about special foods and substances you should eat (or avoid), special natural skin care creams and sprays that help create clear complexions and keep skin beautiful, and special activities such as "flow generating" exercise, meditative breathing methods.
As a promoter of natural healthy living, focusing on herbal ingredients in food and beauty formulations, Herbally Radiant attaches special significance to natural techniques for stress handling, for the stressful looks make skin dull, removing its brightness, to the extent of exhibiting premature skin aging signs.

To deal with stress and restore calm, Herbally Radiant uses special Essential Oils (EOs) in its top beauty formulations, as part of aromatherapy in beauty treatment. It consists of using Essential Oils (EO) for creating curative effect on different parts of the body and face. This procedure is meant to assist natural ability of skin to balance, regulate, heal and restore its natural glow.

EOs consist of tiny aromatic molecules that are readily absorbed by the body. Oils are introduced into the body by inhalation which has the quickest effect. These help control our moods, emotions, state of skin and general appearance, memory and learning, heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, stress levels and hormonal balance.
Before indulging in activities like gambling, please remember that stress-free mind is essential for overall good health and for maintaining bright, calm and wrinkle-free facial looks.

ORGANIC FORMULATIONS MORE EFFECTIVE IN ACNE RELATED DISORDERS

The balancing of hormones is important in every beauty care regime, otherwise problems like acne, pimples, break outs and other disorders begin to erupt on dermis. We are receiving increasing number of customers seeking relief from acne related problems, even while many cosmetic companies keep announcing “new” products, or “new formula” to get relief from acne and pimples. Almost all of them are promising instant relief, or within 4-6 weeks. For various reasons,  acne products are in increasing demand, and  the global acne products market is estimated to reach $3.02 bn by next year.

After experimenting with various combinations of herbal ingredients and Essential Oils, Herbally Radiant team launched most popular range: CLEAN – Cleanser, Toner, Serum and Scrub. Aloe vera based, CLEAN products contain witch hazel, cranberry extract, black willow bark, glycolic acid, billberry, activated charcoal, vegetable glycerin, orange-lemon extract, roman chamomile, rosemary, Pro-Vitamin B5, rooibos tree extract together with essential oils like tea tree, neem, jojoba and avocado. When applied regularly, these ingredients inhibit inflammation and bacterial proliferation, keeping skin comfortable all day long, while gently working on skin.
The CLEAN serum is a powerful formulation, 100% natural, pure and effective. This fast absorbing and non-greasy serum works as a booster to support and treat the skin from within, delivering the highest potency of anti-oxidants and oils, thereby rejuvenating, hydrating and brightening the skin.
Using Tea Tree Essential Oil in exact ratio with other complementary natural ingredients have amazingly enhanced the effect of CLEAN formulations for all sensitive skin types.  This Essential Oil has been found to offer proven properties as effective antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory agent. The pure Tea Tree Oil is a combination of 113 compounds, that protect skin from any microbial activity.

Our team found that the key ingredients of the new pharma-based products, offering “guaranteed relief”, contain 2.5% active benzoyl peroxide and 0.5% salicylic acid. With our long experience  in natural organic beauty formulations, we know that sensitive skin needs more delicate treatment rather than strong chemical ingredients that can aggravate the problem.

To mention briefly the causes, main acne factors are : oil production, dead skin cells, clogged pores, bacteria and hormonal imbalance.  Acne typically appears on face, neck, chest, back and shoulders that have most oil (sebaceous) glands. Acne occurs when hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells.
Hair follicles are connected to oil glands. These glands secrete an oily substance (sebum) to lubricate your hair and skin. Sebum normally travels along the hair shafts and through the openings of the hair follicles onto the surface of our skin. When body produces excess amount of sebum and dead skin cells, the two can build up in hair follicles, and form a soft plug, creating an environment where bacteria can thrive. If the clogged pore becomes infected with bacteria, inflammation results.
The plugged pore may cause the follicle wall to bulge and produce a whitehead. Or the plug may be open to the surface and may darken, causing a blackhead. A blackhead may look like dirt stuck in pores. But actually the pore is congested with bacteria and oil, which turns brown when it's exposed to the air.
Pimples are raised red spots with a white center that develop when blocked hair follicles become inflamed or infected. Blockages and inflammation that develop deep inside hair follicles produce cyst-like lumps beneath the surface of your skin.
