LEARN HOW NATURAL ANTI-AGING FORMULA WORKS FOR HEALTH AND BEAUTY

We were pleasantly surprised to receive today a new customer – a registered nurse - who knew very well the types of ingredients that go into skin care products and their effects. She was impressed with our anti-aging products with immensely beneficial natural ingredients and Essential Oils. On her advice, we are going to disseminate the useful facts about maintaining and revitalizing body and facial skin.

Briefly, skin’s two layers (epidermis and dermis) contain a complex system of nerves, blood vessels, oil glands, sweat glands, hair follicles, sensory cells and sensory nerve endings. While epidermis is made up of several rows of living cells, the dead skin cells are constantly being shed and replaced by cells from the deeper layer (dermis).
A network of capillary blood vessels supply oxygen and nutrients to the skin and lymphatic vessels drain away waste products. In the basal layer of epidermis are cells which produce a pigment called melanin. This determines the color of the skin and protects skin from the sun’s rays – a natural protective response to help shield the inner layer.
While the normal skin has soft, velvety texture and color glows under its translucent surface. In oily skin, the sebaceous glands are overactive, needing special cleansing to keep pores unclogged. Dry skin is the majority type; it lacks both sebum and moisture and looks fine-textured, transparent, patchy and fragile. It flakes and chaps easily.

Among our top selling and most popular anti-aging products, Radiant Age-Defying Cream is the most powerful skin repairing moisturizer.  Since this cream contains many herbal and plant-based ingredients, here we can only mention the following three of them and explain their benefits :

Aloe vera: It is an incredible medicinal plant full of nutritional benefits and has both internal and external applications. Aloe Vera contains several vitamins: A, C, E, folic acid, choline, B1, B2, B3 (niacin), B6, and is also one of the few plants that contains vitamin B12. Among the 20 minerals in Aloe vera are: calcium, magnesium, zinc, chromium, selenium, sodium, iron, potassium, copper, manganese.

With its extremely beneficial properties, aloe is key primary compound in Herbally Radiant’s formulations. It is a known vulnerary, (helps heal wounds of burns, abrasions, psoriasis and even bug bites). Aloe is (1) great hydrating substance (99% water), helping rejuvenate mature skin; (2) rich in powerful antioxidants with antibacterial properties; (3) antipruritic, good for relieving or preventing itching; (3) an astringent triggering contraction of body tissues, reduces bleeding from minor abrasions; (4) increases elasticity of skin through collagen and elastin repair; (5) excellent emollient to soften and soothe skin; (6) supplies oxygen to skin cells, improving blood through capillary dilation, thus increasing the strength and synthesis of skin tissue.

Jojoba oil:  A natural emollient, its similarity to sebum allows it to absorb easily and readily into our skin, making it a gentle, skin-softening moisturizer for all skin types. In addition to acne, jojoba oil provides good treatment for various other skin infections and health ailments, mainly due to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. According to Shirley Price, a renowned aromatherapist and co-author of the book "Aromatherapy for Health Professionals," jojoba oil may improve and relieve an assortment of skin conditions, including psoriasis, chapped skin, sunburn and eczema.
Due to its non-greasy texture, light weight and anti-inflammatory properties, jojoba oil has proved to be an ideal ingredient for treating acne-related skin problems. This is also confirmed by Leda Hadady, author of  "Asian Health Secrets,"  that jojoba oil actually dissolves the sebum that clogs our pores, providing relief from acne.
Olive oil:  Olive oil, considered a naturally effective beauty enhancer for centuries, is a mild, pure and natural substance from fruits of olive tree. Besides its cleansing properties, it protects and moisturizes for smooth, soft skin. Olive oil contains rich antioxidants helpful in improving skin tone, helping scars fade and balancing the oils in our skin, thus turning even oily skin into what is considered "normal."
Olive oil can reach deep into the skin creating smooth and silky dermis. The antioxidants-vitamin E and vitamin A-also protect skin from external exposure.  Its application promotes skin elasticity, which then reduces wrinkles and helps prevent new ones from forming.

It is not possible to detail here many other key, or non-key, ingredients that go into Herbally Radiant’s anti-aging formulations. Having launched nearly 76formulations, our in-house R&D team is constantly looking for improvisation, and monitoring the effect of new ingredients and procedures.

LEARN MORE ABOUT ESSENTIAL OILS - POWERFUL INGREDIENT TO ENHANCE BEAUTY

Many customers who learn from ‘do-it-yourself’ columns the benefits of Essential Oils(EOs), keep asking if they could buy EOs from us. We have been explaining to all that EOs must be used after learning of their properties, and the precautions required for different skin conditions.
EOs  are  the concentrated volatile aroma compounds found in plant materials, mainly derived from flowers, plants, resins and roots, which are the basic life force of organic flowers and plants.  With their antispasmodic, analgesic, antibacterial, antiseptic, astringent, chologogue, febrifuge, sudorific, antidepressant, deodorant and anti-inflammatory properties, their therapeutic effect on body, mind and spirit is amazing, creating a calming and soothing effect
Some EOs are carrier oils, e.g. those derived from plants, seeds, kernels or nuts like apricot oil, fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, hemp seed oil, grapeseed oil and olive oil. These oils are the delivery method for ‘carrying’ EOs to the skin or hair.
EOs are also the  building blocks for aromatherapy. Many EOs are well known as ‘mood balancer’ for relieving stress. While perfumery and aromatherapy are two significant branches, the combination of the two has the potential to be a great fusion of art and health science.
Fragrance in beauty formulations incredibly influences the body and mind. Smell is such a powerful sense. Since females have stronger sense of smell than males, women’s beauty products become exceedingly powerful with right kind of EOs.
The EO-based aromatherapy is not a curative process by itself, but is very useful in symptom control in the case of physical conditions, and helpful in managing emotional conditions. When our brain can’t experience the world, it takes help of senses to “tell” it what’s going on. The brain receives information from nerves and sensory organs. The olfactory nerve connects to the thalamus (which acts as kind of a filter, only sending on some input) and is the only one of the senses that connects directly to the cerebral cortex.
Out of more than 90 Essential Oils (EOs), Herbally Radiant uses most effective combination to enhance natural beauty. Due to widespread fake or adulterated EOs in the market, Herbally Radiant takes special precaution to get supplies from genuine producers. These are carefully added to other organic ingredients in right ratios. The process is meant to assist natural ability of skin to balance, regulate, heal and restore its natural glow. These penetrate skin via hair follicles and sweat glands, and get absorbed in body fluids. Minute molecules of EOs are immediately absorbed into the blood stream when inhaled as the drugs oxygenate the blood.
For natural beauty, stress-free mind is important. Since some EOs have a powerful effect on our mind, Herbally Radiant uses them in its top of the range anti-aging products: Rejuvenating and Radiant, to ensure well hydrated, revitalized, wrinkle-free and shining skin. Herbally Radiant experts choose right blend of EOs for its products, backed by most compatible base or carrier oil.

EXTRA SUGAR INTAKE ALSO HARMFUL TO SKIN

In a recent article (Sept. 15), Sam Saunders makes good case for restricting sugar intake in order to maintain healthy and beautiful skin.
In our earlier blogs, we have also highlighted the fact that extra sugar not only adds more pounds to your waist, but it can also damage the skin cells gradually, breaking its elastin and speeding up early aging signs. Sugar is thus quite literally collagen’s enemy.
Explaining the process, Sam Saunders says, when we eat sugar and other high-glycemic carbohydrates (breads, starches, potatoes, baked goods, pastas, desserts, soda) our body converts the sugar to glucose. This is all completely fine as we need glucose, it's the main source of fuel for your body. However, when we have too much in our body a reaction called Glycation occurs.
This means that excess sugar molecules attach themselves to proteins to form harmful new molecules called Advanced Glycation End products (appropriately AGEs for short). At the point of attachment, inflammation occurs and produces enzymes that reduces the effectiveness of your elastin and collagen (the proteins in your skin that gives it a younger plump look). The quality of our collagen is reduced and it becomes more brittle. Consequently, our skin breaks down and looks thinner and more wrinkly.
Added to this, AGEs also deactivate our body's natural antioxidant enzymes so our skin is left more vulnerable to sun damage (still the main cause of skin ageing) and is less able to repair itself from normal damage.
In a separate study involving 600 men and women, it was also found that those with higher blood sugar levels consistently looked older than those with lower blood sugar. For every extra 180g of glucose per liter of blood, their estimated age rose by five months.
Those wanting to take care of their skin and to maintain shining youthful appearance, it is important that daily sugar intake should be well regulated so as not to cause any indirect inflammation, or weakening of skin cells.
The R&D team of Herbally Radiant has been constantly testing various elements in order to create gentle yet most effective skin-friendly anti-aging beauty formulations. It has been promoting greater awareness of short term effects of pharma-based products being marketed with unverifiable claims. Consumers need to understand themselves the actual effects of ingredients of the products, though in many cases these are not clearly listed on the labels.
Herbally Radiant products therefore display all the ingredients to help consumers make right and safe choice. The specially tested herbal organic formulations, particularly its anti-aging products (Radiantand Rejuvenating range for different skin types), which are infused with powerful Essential Oils, have been found to be amazingly effective in reducing aging signs and restoring youthful appearance of skin. These promote moisture balance that dramatically keep skin adequately rehydrated. Addition of natural Vitamin E with its special antioxidant properties, can revitalize any tired skin.

GUT HEALTH VITAL FOR GOOD SKIN

Highlighting the vital role of gut health which manifests in several physical characteristics, the recent research article in Essential Ninja elaborates on direct link between gut health and overall wellbeing. Now physicians, therefore, term gut as second brain. Even patients with mental disorders are being treated successfully by Dr. James Greenblatt, a psychiatrist, by focusing on gut treatment with probiotics supplements.
With our specialization in skin health (Herbally Radiant), we found it interesting that a team of MIT biologists found that a specific probiotic strain (Lactobacillusreuteri) improved mood, restored a youthful appearance to the skin, and promoted general health by increasing levels of oxytocin, the love hormone.
With our own expertise, we are aware that epidemiological evidence in the past had proved clear association between gut problems and skin disorders. Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), a condition relating to inappropriate growth of bacteria in small intestine, is 10 times more prevalent among people with acne rosacea, and correction of SIBO led to marked clinical improvement.
Several other studies in the past have shown that both stress and gut inflammation can impair the integrity and protective function of the epidermal barrier which, in turn, leads to decrease in anti-microbial peptides produced in the skin, and increase in the severity of infection and inflammation of skin.
Gut flora thus influences skin health. Altered gut microbiota permeates the release of substance P in both gut and skin which plays vital role in skin condition.
While oral consumption of probiotics can reduce systemic inflammation and oxidative stress, both of which are elevated locally in those with acne and other skin disorders, topical application of herbal organic ingredients can restore natural glow and shine of skin. Our experience with natural beauty formulations is that these have much healthier effect on skin, while gut health is being taken care of.  The chemicals and other petroleum based formulations in such cases have more negative impact on skin, mainly because the emphasis is to create a superficially attractive upper layer of skin rather than attempting to revitalize it.

NEW SCIENTIFIC FINDING ALREADY FACTORED IN NATURAL BEAUTY FORMULATIONS

The correction of skin problems is integral part of modern cosmetology. From the point of view of skin regeneration, or anti-aging treatment, the recent scientific finding published by Molecular Cell is of interest to cosmetologists as it discovers how toxic production of reactive oxygen species and oxidative damage to the skin can be prevented. This finding, it is hoped, might lead to more effective anti-aging pharma-based beauty formulations.
Looking at the way the herbal organic ingredients in natural skin care formulations act, we find the new scientific finding is already factored in these.
Dry skin, therefore, needs constant emollients and moisture. Washing with soap and water not only removes grime, but also the natural oils that protect the skin. The emollient provides the oils, keeps the skin lubricated and traps moisture in the skin. Please remember that oil is not moisture. A moisturizer increases the water content of outer layers of skin, keeping it soft & moist.
As we have been highlighting, some of the herbal organic ingredients derived from plants and flowers have amazing curative properties. Herbally Radiant formulations therefore contain highest possible level of organic content, in some cases upto 93%, thus making them most effective skin-friendly formulations. Some of these are: Aloe, Avacado, Castor sulfated, Tea Tree extracts, White Tea extract, Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C Eater, vitamin E ,Coconut, Cranberry, Hazelnut, Jojoba, Mango butter, Neem, Shea butter, Bilberry, Grapeseed oil, Roman Chamomile, Lavender , Black Willowbark extract, Rosemary Oleoresin, Vegetable glycerin, Black Willowbark extract and a host of other complementary ingredients. These are mixed with  blends of fine Essential Oils in order to create additional aroma-therapeutic effect.
The special anti-aging formulations (Radiant-for dryand mature; and Rejuvenating-for oily and combine skin types) were launched byHerbally Radiant after years of test application on different skins. The results far exceeded the expectations. These are now the ‘signature series’ products in anti-aging range.
The natural ingredients being used by Herbally Radiant are the best nutrients for the skin that nourish and revitalize every mature skin in the safest and lasting manner.
