It has been long recognized that deep, controlled breathing can calm someone having an anxiety attack or help anyone in need of a little more stress-relief and mental clarity. Hillary Clinton, for example, has talked about using alternate side nostril breathing to help her relax while on the 2016 presidential campaign trail. But what’s new is that scientists have found a physical link between breathing and what they call “emotionality.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>

While doing research on Essential Oils (EOs), we came across a good piece by Tenneke Barresi that explains the process of production of EOs.<br />
<br />
In <a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Hertbally Radiant</a> products, especially those produced to bring under control skin disorders like acne, blemishes, dark lines and for preventing premature aging signs, a combination of EOs are used to give the basic organic ingredients the ability to penetrate the pores of the skin as rich nutrients.<br />
<br />
The EOs are concentrated, aromatic volatile compounds that can sometimes seem magical. The term “essential oil” is actually short for quintessential oil from the Aristotelian idea that matter is composed of four elements, namely, fire, air, earth, and water. The fifth element, or quintessence, was then considered to be spirit or life force. Before we understood the science of extraction, it was believed that by extracting essential oils you were capturing the spirit or life force of the plant.<br />
<br />
Distillation: Because water and oil, including essential oil, don’t mix, the essential oil can be found floating on the surface of the water. It is then easily siphoned off. Some essential oils are heavier than water and are found below the water instead of floating on top, such as with clove essential oil. The remaining water is what is commonly called a hydrosol or distillate. The most common types of distillation include:<br />
<ul>
<li><strong>Steam Distillation</strong>: By far the most common method of extraction. During this process, steam is introduced into the still at a high pressure and high temperature.</li>
<li><strong>Water Distillation</strong>: In this method, the plant material is in direct contact with the water. Most commonly used for extraction of flower petals like Rose and Orange Blossom as steam causes this delicate plant material to clump together making it difficult for the steam to force its way through.</li>
<li><strong>Water & Steam Distillation</strong>: This starts the same as water distillation, except the plant material is placed on a grid above the water and steam is introduced from outside the main still compartment.</li>
<li><strong>Fractional Distillation: </strong>A fairly new method of extracting different constituents from the plant by halting the distillation process at precise pointsm, its separate constituents are collected and combined with other constituents from other plant materials also using fractional distillation. The result is complex scent profiles that often don’t resemble the original plant materials at all.</li>
</ul>
<div>
Cold Press: Cold Press or Expeller Press is a purely mechanical process for removing essential oils. It’s generally limited to citrus such as orange, grapefruit, lime, and lemon as the essential oils are contained in the peel of the fruit. </div>
<ol>
<li>Simply soak the rind of your citrus in warm water until warm and soft.</li>
<li>Remove from water and place on cutting board or in a large mixing bowl with a nice flat bottom.</li>
<li>Take a sponge or clean cloth and press down on the outside of the rind allowing the sponge/cloth to soak up all of the liquid.</li>
<li>Squeeze your sponge into a clean bowl and wait for the water and oils to separate. siphon off the oil and voila! You have a citrus essential oil – home made! This is not a very sanitary method and if you siphon any water into your oil you could potentially be growing bacteria and mold so I would suggest you use your oil immediately, or add it to a skin or hair care recipe with proper preservation.</li>
</ol>
CO2 Hypercritical Extraction :CO2 extraction is pretty exciting from a science perspective. CO2 under pressure turns into a liquid with is then used as a solvent to extract the essential oils. The best part, the CO2 is completely inert and will not leave a residue. Often CO2 extracts retain more of the plant’s original properties which are often not present compared to other extraction methods.<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #333333; letter-spacing: .15pt;">The EOs market in US has grown by nearly 200% since 2012, and the present size of $ 1.6 billion market is likely to go up as 57% of the 13-34 age group have begun to follow the trend toward natural health care, of which well-being and wellness are essential components. This segment of consumers is reporting that they feel more stressed out, and need to clear their minds. Most of the EOs have calming effect. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #333333; letter-spacing: .15pt;">The benefits from EOs can be optimized with the advice of experts. Just going by DIY formulae that are being put out on the internet might not be the ideal way. There are no standards regulating the quality and purity of the EOs, and there are frequent reports of adulteration, or impurity of EOs especially from the online vendors. The consumers also need to learn which are Essential Oils and which are courier oils. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #333333; letter-spacing: .15pt;"><a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant</a> has been using only the USDA certified natural ingredients and fine blends of Essential Oils. Most of these formulations are mood balancing, and accelerate epidermal regeneration to create more evenly toned skin. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #333333; letter-spacing: .15pt;">The anti-aging formulations launched by Herbally Radiant (<a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">RADIANT and REJUVENATING)</a> eight years ago enjoy the trust of its customers as these prevent visible signs of aging by improving skin hydration and elasticity, reducing the appearance of over-pigmentation and skin inflammation. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<h1>
Top 5 Ingredients for aging skin</h1>
<div class="meta">
If you are keen to understand the aging process and the ingredients that can help prevent premature aging of skin then Teeneke Barresi has something useful to say.<br />
<br />
A healthy-looking, glowing complexion can be routinely maintained even by those who are inching towards 50's or 60's. It is more a question of healthy lifestyle and effective skin care regimen. With advancing years, the skin tends to lose elasticity, collagen, and simply doesn't "turn over" as quickly as it did when we were in our 20's and 30's. Careless skin care regimen speeds up the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and our aging skin appears dull. It is natural for us to want to look and feel beautiful and comfortable on our skin. The following five ingredients play an important role to ensure attractive looks and bright skin :</div>
<ol>
<li><strong>Hyaluronic acid: </strong>Dry skin reminds me of a dried up lake bed. Cracks and crevices everywhere! Hyaluronic Acid is one of the best ways to bring moisture to dry skin. Imagine that dried up lake bed being suddenly flooded with water. This is what hyaluronic acid feels like, and the best part is that with all of that moisture filling up your skin there’s far less chance that your skin will resemble that lake bed at all. </li>
<li><strong>Vitamin C :</strong>Vtamin C can help skin’s appearance by decreasing the visible signs of aging and sun damage. Products that contain vitamin C are best used in after sun products and at night.</li>
<li>CoQ10: When applied topically, CoQ10 creates a youthful appearance. Generally, after the age of thirty optimum levels of CoQ10 in the skin begin to decline. CoQ10 is not only critical to the cells ability to produce energy, it’s also critical to the production of collagen and elastin. Collagen is important because it makes skin appear firm and smooth, while elastin gives your skin the appearance of flexibility and elasticity. The loss of collagen and elastin can cause skin to appear wrinkled and sagging. </li>
<li><strong>Alpha Hydroxy Acids: </strong>Exfoliation helps to reveal fresh skin which becomes more important as we age. The regenerated skin cells give a fresh look with crystal clarity. </li>
<li><strong>Ceramides:</strong> These are lipid molecules found in cell membranes that help skin retain moisture. Ceramides help restore moisture and act as a natural barrier protecting the skin from our environment and from drying. These powerful little molecules are a must have for aging skincare. Pro tip: Retinol can be extremely drying so pairing ceramides with retinol helps to keep skin moisturized while still receiving all of the benefits of retinol.</li>
</ol>
Of course, there are many more natural ingredients that help retain the young looks. <a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant</a> has been manufacturing with USDA certified organic ingredients most effective anti-aging skin care products for the oily, normal and dry skin. The combination of essential oils used in Herbally Radiant products (<a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Radiant and Rejuvenating</a> range) provide extra strength to the formulations.<br />
<br />
Our customers have testified that our wonderful cleansers activate cellular cleaning process and the serums and moisturizers accelerate epidermal regeneration. Since these ingredients work from within, they have an amazing effect that lasts much longer.<br />

<div dir="ltr" id="docs-internal-guid-c0180558-e0fc-e7c9-8517-ecd18e9b2b9e" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 14pt; margin-top: 5pt;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Esthetician Kasia Hampton has good tips for those trying to take care of their beauty. She explains according to the skin types.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 14pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-weight: 700; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Oily :</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;"> It may sound counter-intuitive but because you are drying out your skin, tightening the large pores and trying to get rid of all that excess oil and stripping your skin of its natural oils, you may end up with a plethora of oil on the surface. The skin is telling your body that there is just not enough nourishment (oil) or hydration (water) in the skin, so it makes up for it by making more and more to satisfy itself.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 14pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">The most basic way to even out the oil in oily skin is to use a non-drying or gentle foaming cleanser, to be followed with a toner, which helps to tighten pores and balance the pH of the skin. Finish with a light-weight moisturizer twice a day, every day. Once to three times a week use an exfoliant which takes away that peeling, flaking skin on the surface (this is not dry skin) and once a week try a deep cleansing mask or alternatively a calming hydrating mask. Get the skin fed with what it needs, and it will aid towards normalizing your skin. When it does get to normal you can then add in treatment products such as serums which would be used once a day, every day, under moisturizers.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 14pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-weight: 700; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Normal : </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Normal skin does not look oily or dry, and there are small to medium pore sizes with on-and-off flakiness on the surface. To keep normal skin normal, try to use a non-drying or cream cleanser followed by a toner and a light to medium moisturizer. An exfoliant is beneficial here as well, once to twice a week. Keeping this up will give your skin its basic needs to keep going strong. Of course, adding serums, treatments and masks are all a bonus and quite beneficial to this skin type.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 14pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Most normal skin will be plagued with some oily areas and some dry areas. Try to use the same natural organic products on the entire face but treat some areas (usually T-zone is the oilier area, and cheeks are the drier) with more advanced treatments to help get the skin back to normal. Peels and Microdermabrasion are great for that rapid exfoliation to reveal new glowing skin layers. All skin types may use this type of exfoliation but normal skin has the fewest contraindications than any other.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 14pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-weight: 700; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Dry : T</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">his skin type tends to feel dry and tight all the way down. What is key in helping the appearance of dry skin is finding something that soaks in and fills up the dry cracks and crevices (not completely literally) and satisfies the skin so there is no dry feeling. You will need a crème with the right combination of oils and water that will saturate the skin until it plumps up and is no longer dehydrated, improving the appearance of dehydration lines (those little crisscross lines that fall horizontally across the face). Start with a rich crème cleanser, followed by an alcohol-free toner and a rich moisturizer for day and night.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 14pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">We recommend products made of natural ingredients (<a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant</a> has been producing these out of USDA certified natural ingredients.) Dry skin doesn’t necessarily need exfoliation, but once a week is great with a mild exfoliator or enzyme mask. There is always room for serums and special treatments with dry skin. These dry skin products are usually the pricier options because dry skin can take in so many more ingredients than other types.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 14pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-weight: 700; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Chaotic or troubled :</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;"> It is troubled, confused and just doesn’t know how to act. Sounds like its main group it descends upon…teenagers! Of course, it gets the best of us at older ages too, the main culprit is hormones which usually attack the teenager. With chaotic skin, I have found that being gentle and kind to the skin is best. Sometimes using over the counter products can over dry the skin and make troubled skin even worse. By using gentle products, (made with natural ingredients are the best), you may find that the skin is calmed and appearance is improved.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 14pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Anyone with acne, including adults, can benefit from calming and soothing products. Herbally Radiant has most effective treatment for these: its CLEAN range of cleanser, toner, and serum.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 14pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-weight: 700; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Around the eyes: </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">The eye area is very delicate. The skin is much thinner with smaller and fewer pores so it’s beneficial to use an eye crème, gel or serum specific for that area. There are excellent natural ingredients that help improve the appearance of puffiness, dark circles, fine lines, “chicken” skin and crow’s feet. </span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.2; margin-bottom: 5pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;">Make sure you are using the right products for your skin type. Avoid products marketed with unverifiable claims. Read the ingredients on the label. Using genuine natural products are the safest bet for all.</span></div>

Today's Wellness column of NYTimes highlights the basic element of human health, i.e., immune system. at the <a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant </a>we believe that a healthy body possesses strong immune system which, among other benefits, is the best guarantee to maintain a beautiful appearance.<br />
<br />
In answer to a woman's letter, it says: Someone with a weakened immune system is likely to be more vulnerable to passing bugs than someone with a healthy one. There are different types of patients who are more resistant to infections or who have a slower progression of infectious diseases based on certain immune features and the physicians recognize them as having a stronger immune system.<br />

<div class="story-body-supplemental" style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #333333; display: flex; flex-wrap: wrap; font-family: nyt-cheltenham, georgia, "times new roman", times, serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; justify-content: space-between; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
<div class="story-body story-body-1" style="flex-grow: 0; position: relative; width: 705px;">
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="291" data-total-count="291" style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", times, serif; font-size: 1.0625rem; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; line-height: 1.625rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 75px; max-width: none; width: 570px;">
For good health and strong metabolism, a diet of fiber-rich foods, such as fruits and vegetables, is essential. Gut health is important for maintaining healthy shining skin. The good piece in New York Times explains how fiber-rich diet works for our gut health. </div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="291" data-total-count="291" style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", times, serif; font-size: 1.0625rem; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; line-height: 1.625rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 75px; max-width: none; width: 570px;">
</div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="297" data-total-count="588" style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", times, serif; font-size: 1.0625rem; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; line-height: 1.625rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 75px; max-width: none; width: 570px;">
Scientists now explain that the fiber we eat feeds billions of bacteria in our guts. Keeping them happy means our intestines and immune systems remain in good working order. </div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="179" data-total-count="1148" id="story-continues-1" style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", times, serif; font-size: 1.0625rem; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; line-height: 1.625rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 75px; max-width: none; width: 570px;">
In order to digest food, we need to bathe it in enzymes that break down its molecules. Those molecular fragments then pass through the gut wall and are absorbed in our intestines.</div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="179" data-total-count="1148" id="story-continues-1" style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", times, serif; font-size: 1.0625rem; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; line-height: 1.625rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 75px; max-width: none; width: 570px;">
But our bodies make a limited range of enzymes, so that we cannot break down many of the tough compounds in plants. The term "dietary fiber" refers to those indigestible molecules. <a class="visually-hidden skip-to-text-link" href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/01/science/food-fiber-microbiome-inflammation.html?emc=edit_nn_20180103&nl=morning-briefing&nlid=65914402&te=1&_r=0#story-continues-3" style="border: 0px; clip: rect(0px 0px 0px 0px); color: #326891; height: 1px; margin: -1px; overflow: hidden; padding: 0px; position: absolute; text-decoration: none; width: 1px;">nue reading the main story</a></div>

</div>
<div class="story-body-supplemental" style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #333333; display: flex; flex-wrap: wrap; font-family: nyt-cheltenham, georgia, "times new roman", times, serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; justify-content: space-between; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
<div class="story-body story-body-2" style="flex-grow: 0; position: relative; width: 705px;">
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="263" data-total-count="1595" style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", times, serif; font-size: 1.0625rem; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; line-height: 1.625rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 75px; max-width: none; width: 570px;">
But they are indigestible only to us. The gut is coated with a layer of mucus, atop which sits a carpet of hundreds of species of bacteria, part of the human microbiome. Some of these microbes carry the enzymes needed to break down various kinds of dietary fiber.</div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="325" data-total-count="1920" style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", times, serif; font-size: 1.0625rem; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; line-height: 1.625rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 75px; max-width: none; width: 570px;">

From the point of maintaining and preventing premature aging signs on skin, <a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant</a> R&D team has been recommending high fiber diet which helps better circulation of blood to skin cells. The natural formulations developed by <a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant </a>help in the epidermis renewal process from basal layer to the stratum corneum. The epidermis is rebuilt from within, and the skin barrier is restored. Good gut health with the help of fiber-rich diet speeds up this process. </div>

There have been in the past many studies and by several medical groups warning against growing drinking problems. With our (<a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant</a>) interest in maintaining healthy skin and beautiful face, we have highlighted the danger of smoking and alcohol. Apart from impacting adversely on body and mind, these also cause lung and circulatory disorders. These, in turn, cause premature aging signs and harm the skin in many ways. </div>

As we have underlined in earlier blogs, the skin should remain adequately hydrated. This is important especially during the winter. The
sharp nip in the air means that winter is coming — and with it, the
blistery conditions that often lead to red, chapped skin. The drop in
atmospheric humidity often depletes skin of its moisture, a shift that
requires your internal system to work harder to stay hydrated. Firing up
the furnace at home doesn’t help matters, explains the New York-based
dermatologist Dr. Julie Karen. “Changes in temperature — like going from
the cold outdoors to the heated indoors — can aggravate redness,” she
says, especially for those dealing with already-sensitive skin or
chronic inflammation from eczema and rosacea. </div>

don’t already know how antiperspirant works, when you apply it to your
underarms it is absorbed into your skin. The chemicals in the product are then
activated to block your sweat glands and stop you from sweating. Sweating is
one way your body gets rid of toxins. By clogging your sweat glands your body
cannot get rid of these dangerous waste products and they end up circulating
through your body more and more. Aluminum is the most common antiperspirant

unbelievable harm to your body.</span></div>

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">The NY Times article on the need for using the right moisturizer
is timely with the onset of autumn when the skin needs more protection. With
the cool air of fall upon most of us and winter’s cold, dry winds approaching,
it’s time to get serious about caring for the stratum corneum, the outermost
layer of skin, the body’s largest organ.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">With<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>64 percent water
content in the skin makes it an essential ingredient. If the stratum corneum
gets too dry, the skin can become itchy, scaly, inflamed, leathery and
unattractive. For most people, whether their skin is dry or oily and especially
if they live in a cold, dry or windy climate, routine use of a moisturizer can
protect the skin’s water supply.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">But faced with the dizzying array of choices on store shelves,
how is the consumer to select a moisturizer likely to be effective and unlikely
to cause an unwanted reaction? Do you make a selection based on brand name,
price, a doctor’s or friend’s advice?</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Due to overwhelming advertised claims, most of the cosmetic
products are at best loosely regulated, dependent entirely on the integrity of
manufacturers to market a safe, effective product and on consumers to holler
loudly when a product is neither.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Triggering of allergy resulting in itchy, red, inflamed skin is
one prime concern. </span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Experts recently evaluated 174 best-selling moisturizers across
a price range of 10 cents an ounce to $9.51 an ounce, with special attention to
the presence of allergenic ingredients. </span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Body lotions were by far the most popular, accounting for 59
percent of moisturizers sold, followed by creams at 13 percent, oils at 12
percent, butters at 8 percent and ointments at 2 percent. Based on the North
American group’s list, the team found that only 12 percent of the best-selling
moisturizers were free of allergens. The three most common allergens were
fragrances, parabens and tocopherol.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Even among products labeled “fragrance-free,” 45 percent had at
least one fragrance-related ingredient, the team reported.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It was found that if a company uses an
ingredient that is both a preservative and a fragrance, it can still claim the
product to be “fragrance-free” if preservation is the ingredient’s primary
purpose.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Also, a product labeled “fragrance-free” or “unscented” could
contain a masking agent (a fragrance that counters a chemical odor), a
cross-reactive chemical that acts like a fragrance, or a botanical ingredient
that is an allergen. The experts feel that it’s hard for dermatologists to
guide patients to products that are truly fragrance-free.” Among the 15
products claiming to be hypoallergenic, 83 percent had at least one ingredient
on the allergen list, and 24 products contained five or more such ingredients</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">An initial mild allergic reaction of itching and redness can
progress to a profound reaction of stinging, burning, swelling and pain, Dr.
Silverberg said. “With each exposure, the reaction gets stronger,” he said.
Thus, the wise consumer with an allergic tendency might consider switching
periodically to a different product and should certainly stop using any
moisturizer that seems to be setting off an untoward reaction.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">The American Academy of Dermatology suggests that in choosing a
moisturizer, consumers wishing to avoid common allergic sensitizers pick one
that is free of additives, fragrances and perfumes, though the new study showed
this is clearly a challenge, even for knowledgeable physicians.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Cost is no guarantee of safety or effectiveness, the new study
showed. Products labeled “dermatologist-recommended” are more expensive, but
Dr. Xu said “the label doesn’t mean anything – is it 100 dermatologists, 10
dermatologists or one dermatologist?” The most expensive moisturizer his team
analyzed contained the most allergens – a total of eight on the North American
group’s list.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Health-conscious consumers sometimes turn to products labeled
“organic” or “all-natural” for moisturizing in hopes of avoiding synthetic
chemicals. But these “are not necessarily unlikely to cause a reaction and may
not be very effective,” Dr. Xu said.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Olive oil, for example, increases water evaporation from the
skin, he said, adding that the oils likely to be most protective and free of
allergens are sunflower oil, coconut oil and shea butter.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">However, for most people, moisturizing lotions, which contain
more water than creams or ointments, are effective and least expensive. They evaporate
quickly on the skin and do not leave a greasy feeling that many consumers
dislike.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Nonetheless, people with very dry skin might invest in a cream
or ointment, the cost of which is reduced by the need to use less of the
product. Creams contain more water than ointments and offer what the team
called “a middle ground” for people who dislike the greasiness of ointments.
Ultimately, the team concluded, “patient adherence and willingness to use a
moisturizer is more important than a specific formulation.”</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 12.0pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Georgia","serif";">Ideally, moisturizers are best applied on damp skin within
minutes of bathing, after patting the skin dry, to lock in moisture. Also
helpful is to bathe or shower in warm, not hot, water. </span></div>

language. Here’s a quick explanation:<b> If a product claims to be
non-comedogenic it means that it shouldn’t clog pores or trigger acne</b> —
either by occluding the skin, blocking glands or irritating the hair follicle.
The claim is not regulated by the F.D.A., however, and many companies do their
own internal tests to determine whether a product should be considered
comedogenic or not. (Some common known comedogenic ingredients are coconut oil
and cocoa butter.) Typically, the fewer ingredients a product has, the easier
it is to determine if it will cause any reactions. </span></div>

“toner” brings to mind stinging astringents from the ’80s. “The original was an
alcohol-based product that was used to dry up oily skin and remove any leftover
dirt following cleansing,” Dr. Nazarian says. Today’s formulas, however, have evolved.
Think of them as supplements — these thin liquids deliver an extra shot of
nutrients, helping the other products in your regimen absorb better, while
still balancing your complexion. Most experts, the New York City

While following the latest efforts to prevent aging among humans, <a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant</a> came across a very good piece in BBC's Health Edition by Peter Allison.<br />
<br />
Describing the history of anti-aging efforts by scientists and physicians since late 19th century, Peter explains how life expectancy in US has gone up from 40 in 1850 to 78 now. However, the efforts are on to raise this level of lifespan.<br />
<br />
There are some possible pharmaceutical treatments that may not only protect against aging, but actually reverse the effects of aging itself. But despite massive advances in health science, there is still a limit to how long the human body can go on.<br />
<br />
Much of the current medical research is not about living longer, but rather living healthier for longer, and delaying infirmity. One should remember that rejuvenation treatments may address the physical aspects of aging, but they do not address the mental and neurological elements, such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. That being said, the number of reported cases of dementia is reducing. “One theory is that just as we keep our bodies active our bodies tend to decline slower, so there is an argument that as we keep our mental activities higher maybe we ward off dementia,” says Harper.<br />
<br />

Another aspect to us living longer and healthier lives is that our chronological age becomes increasingly meaningless when defining our lives. There are now 40-year-old women who are giving birth for the first time, as well as other 40-year-old women who are becoming grandmothers. Despite their shared age, their lives have little in common.</div>

<div class="inline-media inline-image">
<div class="inline-image-wrapper">
I think part of being human is that we have a finite life and that we pace our lives, as has been suggested by Harper. “It is far better to put all our resources into having everyone living long and healthy lifespans, rather than having a few people to live into the far future.”</div>

The point of interest for the R&D team of <a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant</a> is that living a healthy life is more important than just prolonging a life that is no longer in good shape. The rejuvenating of skin is quite crucial from this point. No chemicals experimented by scientists on the skin have so far have turned old aging skin into a fresh one. These have not removed the wrinkles, lines and spots which appear with the aging process. </div>

However, it goes to the credit of those experts who experimented with the natural organic elements to come up with amazing formulations that are able to delay aging signs on the skin. Herbally Radiant has been using these formulations in its powerful anti-aging products that are chemical-free and contain the best natural ingredients that are most skin-friendly and create a bright skin, adding to the facial beauty. </div>

Increasing number of experts cosmetologists are feeling the need for the standardized process before a beauty and skin care product could be labeled as 'natural' or 'organic'. In blogs and seminars on what constitutes 'natural' and 'organic' is being debated extensively because the consumers are becoming aware of the hazards of chemical and synthetic ingredients that are packed in most of the cosmetic and beauty care products.<br />
<br />
the view being expressed widely is that the cosmetic regulations in the US are overly nuanced and too convoluted. Trends and marketing strategies have collided in recent years to make 'natural' and 'organic' beauty product labeling delightfully problematic.<br />
<br />
The industry experts have emphasized that there has been a dilution of the meaning of 'natural' and 'organic' and somewhere along the way, the truly authentic, natural brands are paying up.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant </a>has learnt from its customers that the consumers, in general, would very much welcome to find the exact sequential in explaining truly clean, green, natural organic beauty product.<br />

More and more scientists are recognizing the fact that plants have amazing effect on human health. <a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant </a>has been promoting this awareness with the help of its powerful formulations to prevent premature aging signs and to brighten up skin in the healthiest natural manner.<br />
The investigative report in BBC magazine highlights how from being natural fire-fighters to potential famine-thwarters, there are four incredible ways that plants could revolutionise our world.</div>

When we eat vegetables on our dinner plates, what we’re looking at were once ordinary crops that were grown on a farm. But those farm-grown crops had relatives out in the wild - that were <a href="http://ec.europa.eu/environment/integration/research/newsalert/pdf/crop_wild_relatives_critically_underrepresented_gene_banks_464na4_en.pdf" style="background: transparent; color: black; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none;">“to our food plants what wolves are to dogs”</a>.But those roguish cousins living in the wild – far away from domesticating farms – have developed resilience to pests, diseases, soil salinity and climate change.</div>

It’s a truly worldwide plan; the countries that have the highest number of wild plant cousins are Brazil, China, and India, while the countries with the highest concentration of them are Azerbaijan, Portugal and Greece. The benefits that this cross-breeding programme could have in developing countries in particular could be indispensable as world population growth reaches over nine billion.</div>

<b style="font-weight: bold;">Using plants as medicine</b></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #6c6c6c; display: block; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 1.8em; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: -0.1px; line-height: 1.55556em; margin: 1.55556em 27.1719px 0px 0px; orphans: 2; padding-left: 8px; padding-right: 8px; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
This isn’t anything new – the use of plants is medicine has been known since time immemorial. But are we being too slow to register new uses?</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #6c6c6c; display: block; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 1.8em; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: -0.1px; line-height: 1.55556em; margin: 1.55556em 27.1719px 0px 0px; orphans: 2; padding-left: 8px; padding-right: 8px; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
Over 28,000 plant species are currently recorded as being of medicinal use, but fewer than 16% of them are cited in a medicinal regulatory publication. When the World Health Organization last estimated the plant-based medicinal industry’s worth in 2012, it totalled a mind-boggling $83bn (£62bn).</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #6c6c6c; display: block; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 1.8em; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: -0.1px; line-height: 1.55556em; margin: 1.55556em 27.1719px 0px 0px; orphans: 2; padding-left: 8px; padding-right: 8px; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
The industry is growing increasingly popular; in Germany, around 90% of the population use herbal medicines that are derived from plants such as foxglove <a href="http://jn.nutrition.org/content/136/3/732S.full" style="background: transparent; color: black; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none;">and garlic</a>. But one major problem, of course, is that health regulators are keen to stop the proliferation of unsafe or phony products entering the market; a lazy approach to authentication has already meant <a href="http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/world/2017-05/19/content_29407092.htm" style="background: transparent; color: black; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none;">that herb names have been confused with those with similar sounding names and</a> patients have ended up ingesting a wildly inappropriate (and potentially lethal) drug.</div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #6c6c6c; display: block; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 1.8em; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: -0.1px; line-height: 1.55556em; margin: 1.55556em 27.1719px 0px 0px; orphans: 2; padding-left: 8px; padding-right: 8px; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
China is one country trying to stop this. In December 2016, Chinese government officials announced their aim to integrate more traditional Chinese medicine into their healthcare system by 2020, as well as presenting detailed illustrations and descriptions of the source plants to stop any future confusion happening.</div>
<div class="callout-box" style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #6c6c6c; display: inline-block; float: left; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 10px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 1.55em 1.55em 1.55em 0px; max-width: 275px; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">

If we’re to utilise plants to their full life-saving potential,the researchers make urgent recommendations: sourcing plants from sustainable resources, cultivating them, introducing reliable traceability procedures and secure more effective quality control.</div>

<b style="font-weight: bold;">Bananas on steroids</b></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #6c6c6c; display: block; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 1.8em; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: -0.1px; line-height: 1.55556em; margin: 1.55556em 27.1719px 0px 0px; orphans: 2; padding-left: 8px; padding-right: 8px; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
Well, not quite bananas. The <a href="https://www.kew.org/blogs/kew-science/enset-bananas-on-steroids" style="background: transparent; color: black; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none;">enset</a> is a member of the banana family that has been cultivated in Ethiopia for tens of thousands of years – the Ethiopians in fact have over 200 names for it – and it has several different uses. As well as being a staple crop in Africa it can make rope, medicine, shelter, animal feed and clothes, not to mention also providing an ideal microclimate for coffee plants to flourish in. It withstands drought, heavy rain and flooding. Basically – is there anything that this ‘false banana’ can’t do?</div>
<br /><div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #6c6c6c; display: block; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 1.8em; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: -0.1px; line-height: 1.55556em; margin: 1.55556em 27.1719px 0px 0px; orphans: 2; padding-left: 8px; padding-right: 8px; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
But first, they’re going to have to figure out how to gather its seeds – at the moment, farmers take cuttings from the plants to grow more of them, meaning no one actually knows how enset is pollinated. However, once they work out this super banana’s secrets, there’s no telling the good it could do.</div>

The flammability of plants is seriously important when you think about wildfires and the devastation that <a href="https://stateoftheworldsplants.com/2017/" style="background: transparent; color: black; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none;">they cause economically, socially and environmentally</a>. It can happen because plant diversity is poor, and also because non-native plants simply haven’t adapted in time to the climate of their new home. But fire is a normal, important process in some ecosystems.</div>

Plants that are likely to tolerate future increases in the frequency of fires are those with a thicker bark, a quick ability to resprout and the presence of serotinous cones; just like a phoenix from the ashes, these cones house seeds which are released into the air if a fire burns away the serotinous resin protecting it, ensuring the survival of the species elsewhere.<br />

Washington Post carries a thought provoking article on the increasing inroads being made by tech giants like Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple and others. </div>

The extracts of the article : Today’s ascendant monopolies aspire to encompass all of existence. Google derives from googol, a number (1 followed by 100 zeros) that mathematicians use as shorthand for unimaginably large quantities. Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded Google with the mission of organizing all knowledge, but that proved too narrow. They now aim to build driverless cars, manufacture phones and conquer death. Amazon, which once called itself “the everything store,” now produces television shows, owns Whole Foods and powers the cloud. The architect of this firm, Jeff Bezos, even owns this newspaper.</div>

Along with Facebook, Microsoft and Apple, these companies are in a race to become our “personal assistant.” They want to wake us in the morning, have their artificial intelligence software guide us through our days and never quite leave our sides. They aspire to become the repository for precious and private items, our calendars and contacts, our photos and documents. They intend for us to turn unthinkingly to them for information and entertainment while they catalogue our intentions and aversions. Google Glass and the Apple Watch prefigure the day when these companies implant their artificial intelligence in our bodies. Perhaps in the future, we can attach a little version of Google that you just plug into your brain.</div>

More than any previous coterie of corporations, the tech monopolies aspire to mold humanity into their desired image of it. They think they have the opportunity to complete the long merger between man and machine — to redirect the trajectory of human evolution. How do I know this? In annual addresses and town hall meetings, the founding fathers of these companies often make big, bold pronouncements about human nature — a view that they intend for the rest of us to adhere to, and if humans function like computers, why not hasten the day we become fully cyborg?</div>

<a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant</a> welcomes the move by Proctor and Gamble to share online all fragrance ingredients down to 0.1 per cent in its entire product portfolio in US and Canada.<br />
<br />
This announcement comes close on the heels of its competitor SC Johnson's decision to begin to disclose the specific ingredients in each of its home care products in 2014.<br />
<br />
President of the Environmental Working Group has also reacted positively to this initiative and has hoped that in the cosmetics and personal care industry, more legacy brands and multinational corporations will follow suit. This lets consumers' demand to know the information that is being demanded increasingly by health-conscious people.<br />
<br />
According to its announcement, P7G will share online all fragrance ingredients down to 0.1% in its entire product portfolio in US and Canada by the end of 2019. This expands on the company's earlier disclosure of a comprehensive list of fragrance ingredients used by it.<br />
<br />
Consumers also need to avoid the products which do not reveal the ingredients. Most of the online suppliers do not disclose these, making unverifiable claims to increase their sales. </div>

The misleading branding is mostly in so-called “natural” cosmetics and skin care products even when their chemical content far exceeds the permissible limit. The consumers are not in a position to know the fact in the absence of ingredients on the labels. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<br /><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: 12pt;">Nineteen all-natural class actions have been filed this year, as of July 2017, there were only 27 such suits in 2016. The law suits claim that "natural" labels tricked shoppers into buying a more expensive cheese — or flavored water, or pita chip — by deceiving them about how the product was made.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Briefly, parabens, man-made preservative chemicals, are used by manufacturers in a variety of domestic products, such as cosmetics, lotions and moisturizers, shampoo, shaving, and tanning products. Companies find them cost-effective in providing protection against micro-organisms for an extended shelf life of cosmetics. While there are multiple types of parabens, methyl, propyl and butylparaben are the most frequently used in beauty products. In recent years, concern has increased as to their role in producing potentially serious health side effects.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">According to Costmeticsinfo.org, data indicate that methyl, propyl, and butyl forms of parabens interfere with the functioning of the endocrine system. Specifically, parabens are endocrine disruptors stored in the body tissue that interferes with glandular activity and hormone production. Moreover, these preservative chemicals are associated with the following in infants and children: developmental disorders, dysfunction of the immune system, learning problems as well as reproductive disorders. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">The Food and Drug Administration states that several assessments made by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review report that parabens are safe, with no side effects, in cosmetics at levels up to 25 percent, implying that exceeding the safe level is harmful because these are not good for healthy skin. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

Therefore, one should read the ingredients to check for methylparabens before buying beauty products for the skin.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "georgia" , "serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">Sonnenberg and his colleagues analyzed 350 stool samples from Hadza people and concluded that the further away people's diets are from a Western diet, the greater the variety of microbes they tend to have in their guts. And that includes bacteria that are missing from American guts.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "georgia" , "serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">In a way, the Western diet — low in fiber and high in refined sugars — is basically wiping out species of bacteria from our intestines. The processed foods changed the composition of the microbiome over time. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "georgia" , "serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">Sonnenburg is placing his bets on another dietary component: fiber — which is a vital food for the microbiome. "We're beginning to realize that people who eat more dietary fiber are actually feeding their gut microbiome." <o:p></o:p></span></div>

In the context of growing counterfeit cosmetic products being flooded, especially through the online suppliers, <a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant</a> welcomes the recent initiative by the French luxury group Kering and Alibaba to engage in joint enforcement actions to prevent online and offline cosmetic infringements and protect intellectual property rights.<br />
<br />
The presence of fake products of branded companies is growing alarmingly, at the cost of consumers' health and well being. Both Kering and Alibaba now feel that not only counterfeit beauty products are proving more crucial issue, particularly in the Asia Pacific region that adversely affect reputations, but worringly the counterfeit products are also proving quite damaging to cvonsumers' health and well being.<br />
<br />
The presence of fake products impacts the customers' experience, along with trust, loyalty and confidence in the market places and companies they are purchasing from.<br />
<br />
While Alibaba will eradicate fake product listings within 24 hours, an additional provision includes a single entry point across all Alibaba e-commerce platforms, improvements to its automated complaints-processing and analysis system and streamline process to assess the validity of complaints.<br />
<br />
Kering's prestige brands will enforce their intellectual property rights against both individual and third p0arties that manage the production, distribution and sales of unbranded and illegitimate items. </div>

<div class="_5pbx userContent" data-ft="{"tn":"K"}" id="js_f">
Aloe vera is an extremely beneficial ingredient in skin care products. It's thick green leaves store water. This slimy, water-filled tissue is the 'gel' we associate with aloe vera products, which contains most of the bioactive compounds in the plant, including vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants. Several products of <a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant</a> are aloe based. Its wide use has earned it a global market share of 13 billion dollars. Some of its benefits are :<br />
1. Has antioxidant and antibacterial properties which are important for health. Aloe vera gel contains powerful antioxidants, which belong to a large family of substances known as polyphenols. These polyphenols, along with several other compounds in Aloe vera, can help inhibit the growth of certain bacteria that can cause infections in humans.<br />
2.Accelerates the healing of burns. Aloe vera is most commonly used as a topical medication, rubbed onto the skin rather than eaten. It has long been known as a treatment for sores, particularly burns, including sunburns. In fact, the FDA first approved Aloe vera ointment as an over-the-counter medication for skin burns back in 1959.<br />
A review of 4 experimental studies found that Aloe vera could reduce the healing time of burns by around 9 days compared to conventional medication.<br />
3.Reduces dental plaque. Tooth decay and diseases of the gum are very common health problems. One of the best ways to prevent this from happening is to reduce the buildup of plaque (bacterial biofilms) on the teeth.In a mouth rinse study of 300 healthy people, 100% pure Aloe vera juice was compared to the standard mouthwash ingredient chlorhexidine. After 4 days of use, the Aloe vera mouth rinse was found to be just as effective as chlorhexidine in reducing dental plaque.<br />
Another study found similar benefits of Aloe vera mouth rinse when used over a 15- to 30-day period. Aloe vera does this by killing the plaque-producing bacterium Streptococcus mutans in the mouth, as well as the yeast Candida albicans.<br />
4.Helps treat mouth ulcers, or canker sores. Many people have experienced mouth ulcers, or canker sores, at some point in their lives. They usually form underneath the lip, inside the mouth, and last for about 7-10 days. Studies have convincingly shown that Aloe vera treatment can accelerate the healing of mouth ulcers. In a 7-day study of 180 people with recurrent mouth ulcers, an Aloe vera patch applied to the area was effective in reducing the size of the ulcers.<br />
5.Reduces constipation. Aloe vera has often be used to treat constipation.This time it is not the gel, but the latex, that provides the benefits. The latex is a sticky yellow residue found just under the skin of the leaf. The key compound responsible for this effect is called aloin, or barbaloin, which has well-established laxative effects.<br />
6. May improve skin and help prevent wrinkles. There is preliminary evidence that topical Aloe vera gel can slow aging of the skin. In one study of 30 women over the age of 45, topical application of the gel was shown to increase collagen production and improve skin elasticity over a 90-day period. Another study found that Aloe vera reduced erythema (redness of the skin), but was also found to dehydrate skin cells.<br />
7.Lowers blood sugar levels in diabetics. Aloe vera has sometimes been used as a traditional diabetes remedy. It is said to enhance insulin sensitivity and help improve blood sugar management. Several animal and human studies in type 2 diabetics have actually found promising results from consuming Aloe vera extract.</div>

<a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant</a> noted with concern that potentially unsafe skin care products are being sent to US in growing volumes. In its letter to Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr (D., NJ), FDA has expressed inability to carry out adequate inspections of cosmetic shipments coming from many countries due to scarce resources. At the same time, the letter reveals that about 2000 shipments a year are refused entry to the US, based on these inspections or other issues; the highest share of those blocked come from China, South Korea, Canada, France, and India. It emphasized that imports from China were particularly problematic.<br />
<br />
Of the 3 million imported cosmetics shipments, FDA physically inspected just 9,871, or about 0.3 percent in 2016, and 15% violations were found in 1474 shipments. In other words, in the small percentage of checks that FDA could carry out, the rate of rising violations was of concern.<br />
<br />
This comes on the heel of several reports of potentially unsafe cosmetic products being sent by online suppliers which are doing a booming business on the back of aggressive marketing promotions.<br />
<br />
While FDA should be able to increase inspections and bar imports from companies dispatching unsafe products, the consumers also need to exercise caution. Most of such cosmetic products use unsafe chemical ingredients not mentioned on the labels.<br />

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">The question of aging of skin has been engaging the attention and efforts of beauticians and scientists. The R&D team of <a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank">Herbally Radiant</a> has experimented with a variety of combinations using herbal ingredients to create and maintain a youthful appearance. It also monitors the latest studies on aging factors and found the recent article by Yella Hewings-Martin, PhD in MNT a good effort in explaining the biological process of aging. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Skin aging is caused by a combination of natural aging and exposure to sunlight. Add to this the inescapable factor of time, and the result is sagging skin, wrinkles, and discolorations: the characteristic signs of skin aging.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Our skin has two distinct layers. The epidermis makes up the outer barrier of our skin and protects us from environmental insults, such as bacteria and ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Meanwhile, the dermis is rich in collagens and other proteins, which are responsible for skin's strength and elasticity.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">The dermis contains a very complex arrangement of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins, including collagens and others, such as elastin, which provides elasticity.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Fibroblast cells in the dermis not only produce these proteins, but they are also firmly lodged in between these proteins and connected to them. As we age, the ECM progressively loses its integrity as the protein structures become fragmented.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Fibroblasts lose their ECM connections and slowly degrade the protein networks. This leads to a change in fibroblast shape, severely affecting the cells' function. Protein production by fibroblasts is reduced, contributing further to the breakdown of the ECM network.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">This detrimental circle of events causes a significant reduction in elasticity and results in the loss of our part skin tone. Scientists think that it is caused by a combination of oxidative stress damage to DNA, cell senescence, and chronic inflammation.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Although we all experience some natural loss of elasticity and ECM integrity as we age, sun exposure makes this much worse.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">But fibroblasts themselves do not react to direct irradiation with UV light in laboratory studies. Instead, scientists think that cells in the epidermis respond to UV exposure by releasing chemicals that diffuse into the dermis and lead to enzyme release in dermal fibroblasts.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">This complex interplay is thought to result in deep wrinkles, which is a hallmark of UV-induced skin aging. And recent evidence implicates a third player in causing the signs of skin aging.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">As our bodies age, the fat layer below the skin naturally shrinks, resulting in sagging. But until recently, scientists were unable to see any connection between UV damage and fat; UV rays do not penetrate deeply enough to reach the subcutaneous fat. However, a new type of fat depot in the deep dermis was recently discovered that can penetrate the upper dermis, which is well within reach of UV light.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">These specialized fat cells can also respond to chemicals released by cells in the epidermis. In response to chronic UV damage, these fat cells die and are replaced by scar tissue.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Besides avoiding excessive sun exposure,<a href="http://www.herballyradiant.com/" target="_blank"> Herbally Radiant</a> has found certain combinations of herbs and essential oils extremely effective in preventing premature aging of the skin. The rich nutrients in its anti-aging formulations (Radiant and Rejuvenating), amazingly activate cellular cleaning process and accelerate epidermal regeneration. These improve skin hydration and elasticity and reducing the appearance of over-pigmentation and skin inflammation. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #111111; font-family: Georgia; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 1.8em; margin: 0px auto 18px; max-width: 100%; text-align: justify; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">The Washington Post carried an informative piece on misunderstanding of the product labelled as "Natural Flavors". It explains how the FDA defines <span></span>a
natural flavor as a substance extracted, distilled or similarly derived
from plant or animal matter, either as is or after it has been roasted,
heated or fermented, and whose function is for flavor, not nutrition.
Foods that should be vegetarian can include flavors that are derived
from animals, and foods can have flavors that outwardly have nothing to
do with the food involved. An example of these incongruities is wine
that includes traces of eggs or fish.In the food and cosmetics industries, the term “all natural” is poorly regulated, so manufacturers may use it even when their products are full of chemicals and preservatives — not at all what we think of as natural.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #111111; font-family: Georgia; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 1.8em; margin: 0px auto 18px; max-width: 100%; text-align: justify; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"> There are a few reasons extra flavors are added to foods. They can replace flavors that food processing and pasteurizing removed (probably the case with the orange juice he spotted); they help food taste fresh even when it is not (again, perhaps the case with the orange juice); they create an appealing smell that will entice the consumer to eat the product.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #111111; font-family: Georgia; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 1.8em; margin: 0px auto 18px; max-width: 100%; text-align: justify; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">The words “natural flavors” seemed to be on most of the food packages they spotted at the store. In fact, the Environmental Working Group found in its research of 80,000 food products that only salt, water and sugar are listed more often than natural flavors on food labels. We all know that we aren’t supposed to eat too much sugar or salt, and water seems to be a safe bet, but what about that fourth most popular ingredient.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: small;">There is usually only a very small amount of chemical flavoring in each food.Still, many of the chemicals are not approved by the Food and Drug Administration, so we don’t really know the impact that years of consuming these additives will have on the body. Many of the chemicals that make up natural flavors fall under a category called “generally recognized as safe,” or GRAS. An estimated 3,000 chemical food additives are in this category, yet this does not mean that these chemicals have been widely studied and approved by the FDA. Food companies do not need to disclose the ingredients of a natural flavor if all of the ingredients, which can be up to 100 in one flavor, fall into the GRAS category.</span></div>
</div>
</div>
</div>

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #111111; font-family: Georgia; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 1.8em; margin: 0px auto 18px; max-width: 100%; text-align: justify; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">
<span style="font-size: small;">There seem to be about<span> 1000 chemicals</span><span> </span>in the GRAS category that have not been researched or approved by the FDA or anyone else. Some are obviously artificial flavors and not natural flavors. Artificial flavors are created in a lab instead of being derived from a natural substance, yet what was fascinating to my boys was that the chemical structures of a natural strawberry flavor and an artificial strawberry flavor may be exactly the same, just achieved by different means. This suggests that a natural flavor may not be chemically any healthier than an artificial flavor. Organic foods cannot have artificial preservatives or synthetic solvents, so generally they are a safer bet.</span></div>
