As a public health issue, Herbally Radiant has been promoting
awareness about the potentially harmful chemical ingredients in cosmetics and
skin care products.
In its efforts to offer more refined and improved products,Herbally Radiant is removing EDTA from its formulations, and replacing it with
tetrasodium glutamate diacetate – a multi-purpose, clear, liquid chelating
agent and preservative booster that is also bio degradable.
EDTA, called Ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid is a water
soluble ingredient used by cosmetic manufacturers as chelator, that is an agent
which binds calcium with other ingredients. After recent studies showed its
links with health risks, Herbally Radiant has decided to replace it with safer
ingredient.
Growing awareness about the potentially harmful risks posed
by the harsh chemical ingredients in beauty formulations is forcing global
manufacturers to make their products safer, skin-friendly and without any side
effects. However, there are still many
products being marketed by some which do not meet the safety standards.
Following the trend of natural healthy skin care products
that are eco-friendly and safer, one of the largest Chinese company: Eco&
more, based in Shanghai, has also decided to ban animal testing for its
products. The Canadian authorities are
in the process of legislating to ensure cruelty-free beauty products.
We hope to witness more manufacturers coming forward with
healthy and safer products. Meanwhile, consumers might like to exercise caution and
read the contents on the label of each product, and to stay away from it if the
label displays any of the following ingredients :
Edtab Sodium
Tetra Sodium Edate
Tetrasodium Salt
TEA-EDTA
