MOST BEAUTY PRODUCTS CONTAIN SYNTHETIC VITAMINS

In his recent blog, beauty expert Steven Borden, explains the role of vitamins in skin care. He feels that instead of topical application of vitamins on skin, one should follow vitamin-rich diet for full benefits.  He also underlines the fact that majority of vitamins used in the personal care and cosmetic industries are synthetic, though not all.

With our own experience in creating natural organic beauty formulations at Herbally Radiant, we may emphasize that the products which contain natural vitamins, especially Vitamin A, C, D and E, have proved to be more effective in producing collagen and elastin which prevent aging signs and prevent wrinkles. We also know from our experience that the pharma-based formulations (e.g., synthetic ingredients), boasting vitamins, have no real effect or very little effect.
Our own tests have demonstrated that the natural Vitamin E derived from vegetable oil has a far more potent antioxidant effect than synthetic Vitamin E. The dramatic difference in quality between natural Vitamin E and synthetic Vitamin E has no parallel with any other vitamin used in cosmetics. In skin care, natural Vitamin B3 vs synthetic Vitamin B3 is six of one half dozen of another. But a formulator cannot swap synthetic Vitamin E for natural Vitamin E and expect the finished product to be of the same quality. If one wants the maximum benefits of Vitamin E one must use natural Vitamin E.
The final beauty formulations launched by Herbally Radiant, especially its anti-aging range (Rejuvenating and Radiant), use only certified organic vitamins, like those derived from mixed vegetable oils. With our own experience in creating natural organic beauty formulations at Herbally Radiant, we may emphasize that the products which contain vitamins, especially vitamin A, C and D, have proved to be more effective in revitalizing the skin. We have time and again been creating more consumer awareness that the claims of the pharma-based formulations  boasting all kinds of vitamins, have more to do with the marketing strategy of the industry than the actual benefit to the skin.

We are aware that botanically derived vitamins are very expensive when compared to synthetic vitamins. Since most of the consumers of cosmetic products are not inclined to pay premium for botanically derived vitamins, manufacturers of beauty products use only synthetic vitamins. (For example, between the years 2007 and 2012, the price of natural Vitamin E shot up by over 200%.) However, in order to make its products uniquely beneficial, Herbally Radiant has been consistently using  natural vitamins, in combination of Essential Oils, to ensure quality and efficacy of its products.
